Barely B and Me
"You don't need a breast augmentation!" "You look great the way you are!" "Just think of all the things you could be spending that money on!"

These are just a few examples of things I heard from friends and family when I told them I decided to get a breast augmentation. True, I didn't need breast implants, I wanted them!

I am 30 years old and married to a really great guy. I caught my husband off guard when I told him that I had decided to get a breast augmentation. I decided not to tell him that I was thinking about it, because I wanted the decision to either do it or not, to be my decision, no one else’s. I wanted absolutely no outside influence; then I could be assured that the decision was mine, and mine alone.

When I seriously started to consider the procedure, I didn't really know where to start. So, I looked up "plastic surgery" on the Internet. There were many sites out there! How do I choose a plastic surgeon that fits me? I chose a few in my area and went on consultations, felt pretty good about them, but, still hadn't found the doctor that was a match for me. Well, luckily, a friend referred me to eBody! After going to eBody’s doctor locator and selecting the Minneapolis area, a list of six or seven practices appeared. That's how I found Minneapolis Plastic Surgery and Dr. Gervais.

Here's the Rest of the Story...
Over the past 10 years, I have invested in a lot of gadgets to make my "barely B" breasts seem more proportionate to my body. Foam bra inserts, rubbery latex inserts, pump tops, push up bras, water bras, you name it, I had it. It was always a challenge to find a bra that would fit me well. Swimsuit tops were a total nightmare! They had to be padded enough so I looked like I actually had breasts. Bras and swimsuit tops would push my breasts together and the padding would compensate for my lack of fullness. One problem, though: the top would push my breasts together, and my nipples would almost fall out of the inner side of the top! Arrrrgh! The rubber inserts were just plain sweaty and sticky. Although I liked the way they looked, I could only wear them with a bra and NOT to the beach like the TV ad said. The pump top, well, never mind.

Following Through with It
For a while, I thought I was over the boob thing. "Flat chested is who I am." Yeah right! That only lasted a few weeks. As time went on, the augmentation surgery looked like it could be an option for me. I started having consultations, but never found THE ONE. A plastic surgeon, that is. Well, eBody helped me find Dr. Gervais. I liked him the minute I saw him. He was professional, knowledgeable and had a sense of humor! I felt at ease.

My first consultation with Dr. Gervais and his assistant consisted of a casual chat to address all of my questions and concerns, and an examination of my breasts. I watched an educational video, too. Later, the assistant took me to a "sizing" room and I tried on a sports bra with all sizes of inserts. You wouldn’t believe the size of some of them! Women actually want these? It was helpful to see all the sizes that are available. I found one I was comfortable with and the assistant jotted it down for my file. I then talked to a financial advisor who gave me information about a financing company, should I need it. I must say my first visit was quite successful.
