Tattoo Removal: Who Is a Candidate?
One of the most important considerations in determining if someone is a good candidate for tattoo removal, is whether they have realistic expectations of the end result. Frequently patients will come in and expect that following a single treatment, the tattoo will magically disappear, there will be no scar, and no sign of the former tattoo. This is unrealistic since most tattoos require multiple treatment sessions, and most people will have mild scarring or a change in normal skin color in the area.

The best candidate for tattoo removal is a person who has learned all he or she can about the procedure, what to expect during the treatment, and what the end result will be. These are questions that should be answered during your consultation meeting with the doctor. If you are not satisfied with the answers you get, it's a good idea to consult with another doctor to get answers to all of your questions. Don't feel obligated to have the first doctor you talk to do the treatments. You should feel comfortable with the doctor you choose.
