Facial Implants: Pain
You can expect moderate discomfort, swelling, bruising, numbness and/or stiffness for a few days following facial implant surgery. Your plastic surgeon might prescribe a pain medication to ease you through this time.

You may be prescribed an antibiotic to fight infection. Ice packs will help reduce swelling and soothe the incision.

You can plan to return to work in approximately one week; normal appearance can be expected in two to four weeks; activity that could jar or bump the face should be avoided for six weeks or more.

If at any time following surgery you experience fever, bleeding or other symptoms of infection, let your doctor know right away.
