Collagen Treatment:
Preparing for Treatment
Experts advise patients not to take aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for seven days prior to the treatment. Avoiding these drugs will reduce the risk of excessive bleeding or bruising at the injection site. Do not use any Retin-A type product or alpha hydroxy acid for two days prior to and two days after the treatment.

Patients with a history of herpes simplex of the lips who are receiving collagen in that area, may be asked to take an anti-viral drug such as acyclovir or Famvir three days before the injections to prevent an outbreak.
