Braces: Questions to Ask Your Orthodontist
  • Are you trained as specialist? All orthodontists are dentists but not all dentists are orthodontists. Make sure your orthodontist did a full residency training program in orthodontics and limits their practice to correcting malocclusions.

ACTUALLY, YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A BOARD-CERTIFIED ORTHODONTIST TO DO ORTHODONTURE – THERE IS EVEN A PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY FOR THESE DENTISTS. COSTS MAY BE LOWER.

  • How long will my treatment take?
  • Will I need to get any teeth extracted? (Extraction should be done by a general dentist or oral surgeon.)
  • What will my treatment cost and what kind of payment plan do you offer?
  • How often will I need to come in for adjustments?
  • Will I need any other work done to my teeth after my braces come off to achieve the desired effect?
  • Will you consult with my dentist during my treatment?
