What Happens After Surgery?
Discomfort after scar revision surgery is normal, as is some swelling, bruising and redness. Your doctor will give you instructions on after care, which you must follow to avoid increased scarring. Your stitches may be removed within one to two weeks. Your doctor may insist on decreased general activity for several days and avoidance of any activity that places undue stress on the scarred area for several weeks. It is important to remember that scar tissue requires a year or more to fully heal and achieve maximum improvement in its appearance.
