Prior to surgery, some discomfort is to be expected as the local anesthetic is injected into your scalp. The surgery itself, due to the analgesic medication, is painless.
Most patients have some tissue swelling and discomfort after surgery, as feeling returns and their skin begins to heal. Your doctor will prescribe medication to minimize swelling and pain during your recovery period. Usually, Tylenol #3 is sufficient.
