Hair restoration, like any other surgical procedure, requires a full medical consultation prior to the procedure. Discuss any health concerns or problems that you may have with your dermatologist in advance. Alert your dermatologist if you have allergies or are taking nutritional supplements or medications of any type (prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal preparations).
Follow these guidelines to ensure optimum health going into surgery and during the recovery period.
Don’t take aspirin or any drug containing aspirin for at least two weeks before surgery. Aspirin can interfere with normal blood clotting.
Avoid drinking alcohol a few days prior to the surgery.
If you smoke, stop for at least two weeks before and after the surgery. Smoking reduces the rate of healing.
