Although some people are more sensitive than others, pain is generally minimal during the treatment itself and limited to a slight stinging sensation. Inform your physician immediately if you experience more intense pain or if the pain continues following a treatment session. Post-treatment pain may indicate that you are having a cold sore outbreak.
Also inform your dermatologist if your skin develops itchy, scaly patches. Special creams can be used to relieve the itching. It is important that you not scratch or pick at your skin following laser treatments-doing so can cause scars to develop.
