How do I protect my new veneers and cosmetic crowns? |
 |
 |
With the latest technology and materials, cosmetic crowns and veneers are incredibly durable and with a few exceptions can be treated like natural teeth. With certain bonding materials it is important that minimal stress be placed on the restoration for the first twenty-four hours after placement. Your dentist should address this concern at the insert appointment. Good common sense is the best advice for maintaining veneers and crowns but certain habits should be avoided. Teeth, either natural or restored, should never be used for opening cans or bottles, biting finger nails or pens, breaking thread or fishing line, or holding objects such as pins, paperclip or nails. You should also try to avoid biting into hard or sticky foods or eating and drinking "staining" foods or liquids. And, never forget to keep up excellent brushing and flossing habits! |
