One reason implants fail is poor oral hygiene. You'll need to floss and brush regularly, into the openings and around fixtures, using special brushes. Lack of optimal home care can result in plaque buildup and subsequent inflammation of the tissue surrounding the implant. Chronic tissue inflammation can result in tooth decay and gum disease and eventual loss of the implant.
Your dentist will give you specific instructions on how to care for your implants.
You'll also need to be seen by your dentist as often as four times each year.
