If you have had your teeth whitened, you should avoid tobacco, coffee, tea, berries and staining foods for several days following the procedure. The surface of your teeth will be more susceptible to stains during this period.
The effects of tooth bleaching should last 1-3 years, on average, but longer if you don’t smoke, chew tobacco, drink coffee, tea or red wine or use other staining products. At this point you may choose to get a touch-up treatment.
You can help your teeth remain white by brushing twice a day, cleaning between the teeth daily with floss or interdental cleaners (such as a water pik) and seeing your dentist for regular professional cleanings.
